Safety Info
If you encounter a downed power line, move a safe distance away and always assume that it is energized. While some energized wires spark and snap, others may not appear dangerous.
Also, avoid floodwaters that can hide energized power lines and other hazards, or put you at risk of drowning. Download our Power Line Safety brochure.
If you see downed power lines:
In case of an emergency, call 911. Avoid touching lines or anyone in contact with lines.
Notify the utility immediately of the downed line or exposed cable location.
Assume lines are energized – move and stay a safe distance away!
